Built in 1876, this unique dwelling was the personal home of William Henry Miller who was the first architecture student at Cornell University & one of Ithaca's most prominent architects. His designs are prominent in the city, predominantly on East Hill & the Cornell Campus. The house has had 7 additions under Miller's ownership & is of eclectic Victorian design. Purchased from Miller heirs in 1932 by Lillian Heller, who resided there with architecture students who were boarded in exchange for assistance around the house. In 1957, Mrs. Heller transferred the property to the College of Art, Architecture and Planning who has used it since that time for school functions & for boarding both students & visitors. One of the apts. was for a live-in caretaker. Along with the main floor rooms, there are 2 one-bedroom apts. & two suites with private baths & kitchenettes. The (non operational) parlor organ still exists. Artistic flare and innovation around every corner. Come take a look!
